Education

To help practicing CRNAs meet the necessary continuing education requirements, Allegheny Anesthetists hosts conferences every Spring and Fall as well as the occasional small meeting. We provide informative and engaging seminars by incorporating Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist presentations into our semi-annual meetings. Howard Armour, an expert in Anesthesia education, serves as our Educational Coordinator, and works to bring only the best to each and everyone of our seminars.

Howard Armour has been a CRNA for 36 years. He recently became Allegheny Anesthetists' Educational Director and Placement Coordinator. Details of the path that lead him to that position deserve much more attention than can be given here. In short though, his storied career began in the Republic of Vietnam. Howard served there for 20 months in Military Intelligence. After his military service, he attended UPMC School of Anesthesia and graduated in 1974. In June of 1980, he became Program Director of the Westmoreland Latrobe School of Anesthesia, which was later renamed The Excela Health School of Anesthesia. He has been an adjunct faculty member at La Roche and St. Vincent College, and has held several PANA and AANA positions. Along with his present duties, Mr. Armour is the Co – Director of the popular review course R & R Board Reviews (founded in 1987). In October 2009, he retired as Director of the Excela Health School of Anesthesia, and assumed his current role with Allegheny.
